It's Crunch Time Again

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

It's week 14 of our semester which usually means blood, sweat, tears, dark eye circles and weight loss all cramped into 2-3 weeks. Nice. This is my schedule.

Starts at the end of the the first week of exams meaning I still have approximately two more weeks to study. That still isn't very comforting. Anyway I did notice something about the exam slip. They added extra reminder at the bottom.

Read d) with caps. Very guilt inducing indeed.

Anyway I started a countdown to the time I can finally breathe easiER, hopefully. The countdown counts to the 10th of October, 11.10pm. 11.10 because the lecturers need to count the papers bla bla bla and they normally release you 10 minutes later. Fair enough.

I know..very tacky and dodgy this thing. What to do...free things ma.
Pray for my soul to stay sane during this time. Amen.

Off-topic

Here's a quickie for a friend. Happy b'day to Desmond Keo, another pilot of the many pilots at Crew and also AirAsia. I would post a pic of us but since guys don't take pics together..I'm forced to steal pics from other blogs.

If you were an autobot, then you would transform into an Airbus

When you're back we can do this again...don't you love how Kiwen looks..

You currently appear on:
Van's blog
Aya's blog
Sue's blog
and now mine since the others don't keep a blog. And also a blog which I can't speak of here.
Happy 21st and enjoy piloting. Wishing you ever more prosperity.

Nick r Confucius

Monday, September 10, 2007

He who rushes in life produces shit work

~NickChoo

Told me this when I said I didn't wanna extend my studies. He later says... "I R Confucius".

Speaking of Confucius, I am reminded of a Sejarah essay that a friend of mine wrote for one of his exams. (warning:reading this may cause you laugh until tergolek. And don't take it too seriously)

Excerpts include:-
Setelah Agama Islam dipupoh Pengarut Agama Islam mengenal sistem tenaga nasional. In English, they are too shy to do tat stuff in the light. Scared people see ma. Stupid.

Perempuan tidak lagi di pandang hina kerana setelah ada cahaya, men felt shy because their body part are different. 1 bolt 1 nut.

Dia ini seorang askar, generallah dunno not pangkatlah. 4get liau. Dia mahu kill all the stupid Japanese because they samurai all so lazy stuff. Tetapi kena tangkap dan diberi fahaman samurai. Selepas dilepaskan dia tak mau balik pula kerana ada anak cantik ma. Lepas itu dia pun fang kuat chai lo. His people went to kill him pun tak jadi. Ini telah tersebabnya Shinto.

And the best line of all : Agama confucius ini memang "confusing" entah bila masa mau makan dan entah bila masa bertapa...

It may be old but it still makes me tergolek. This guy was my classmate and he went to form 6 after secondary. He's not and idiot, mind you...well sometimes he is but realize that he wrote this on purpose. It's funny when I read other bloggers reading this saying "what has happen to the kids now""what is wrong with the education system" bla bla bla when everything was meant to be joke. Adults are so uptight sometimes :D

Life has so many presents for me

Friday, September 07, 2007

I woke up today to rush my assignment which is due at 5.00pm. I've done the important part so I just need to finish up the report. My groupmates have a weird way of doing things. We take the same subjects so each of us pick one assignment and do it alone. That means I'm doing this assignment alone while the others work on other subject's assignment. Each person get to do one. How lovely.

So ok, I there's one segment of my assignment codes that I need to verify with my lecturer. So off I went to campus and parked right outside of campus. Went to see him and went to a one hour class. Got out and saw this on my windscreen.

I laughed...hard

So now the police is saman-ing students who park at Emerald Park for "Traffic Obstruction". I mean we have parked there for like the last 4 years with no problem and now.... If you come to Melaka campus you will understand..........

Got home to finish off the assignment and I got a mail from the bank.

Huh?

Seems to me like they entered money into my account but the money isn't mine. Those bumbling buffons over at the bank entered the wrong account number and transferred it into mine. So now they are taking out money from my account. Yay. And I thought I was a millionaire.

Handed in the assignment and went home in the evening. Powered up the computer to find out that there is something wrong with my graphic card. -__-

The fan came off. No attempts to self-fix here

The card still works but I can't play games because it will overheat and make my comp crazy. Gonna have to get a replacement fan which will most probably set me back about RM80 minimum. Hurray. So for now the immediate solution would be...

...get a bigger fan

Had to sacrifice the speakers so I can plug this in. Games with no sound is weird. Seriously.
Then it started to rain. Heavily. Making it...

...flood

starring my cute blue fake Crocs

Construction is going on opposite my house and that most probably sumbat-ed the longkang. The floodwaters brought in dirt and smelled funky. Mmm hmm.

I also bought..or attempted to buy a good headphone for my pretty player off lelong.com.my I banked in the money yesterday and the dude still hasn't reply me. Scammer?!~@#!@~

The best thing is my player is starting to act up again. This time it freezes after a few minute of playing and I can't boot it up. Maybe I GG-ed the harddisk from my self-fix. Another round of applause please. >.<

Help me......

...please...

Wow today was so much FUN. Life is sooo much FUN. Looking forward to tomorrow then.

shiru's top 5 Firefox plug-ins

Thursday, September 06, 2007

Thought I'd share the love since I've got a friend who's a nub at Firefox.
I'm not using Firefox by the way; I'm on Wyzo, a browser based on Firefox and still in development. So anyway the top 5 plug-ins are suppose to make surfing easier. So let's start.

1. Cooliris Previews

This plug-in lets you preview a website from its link before actually going in the website alone. Just hover over the link. Great for previewing Google search results.

Here I'm previewing Heidi's blog from mine

2. Download Status Bar

Put's your download status at the bottom of your browser for more organized monitoring. You can also clear access controls for the downloads by right clicking on the bar.

3. Mouse Gestures

I use the Opera browser as well so mouse gestures have become a necessity for quick browsing. Holding right click and moving it left brings you back to the page before this. Lot's more controls for stuff like a new tab, closing tab, new window, etc.

Notice the bottom of the status bar

And when I'm bored I indulge in a little practice of MS Paint doodles

My leet MS paint skews and notice the status bar going crazy

4. English Dictionary and Spell Checker

Don't wanna screw up with your English while blogging? This plug-in works like your MS Word spell check and checks every word you type. Correct mistakes by right clicking the word and select the corrections. Impeccable English every time.

5. Update Scanner

The plug-in I use the most. I use it to scan friend's blogs for updates and also because I don't wanna use an independent feed reader. I set this plug-in to scan once a day through a list of blogs I wanna read. That's how I know when you people update your blogs :D It even highlights the changes in the blogs.

The purple arrows on the left are updated blogs

There are a few other stuff but that's not so important. Hopefully you'll benefit from these plug-ins if you haven't already. Enjoy.

Merdeka?

Saturday, September 01, 2007

Malaysia celebrates it's 50th birthday this weekend. Celebrations are everywhere and lot's of hu-ha in the newspapers about. Am I suppose to be super proud about this?

For all the achievements Malaysia raked up over the years, you would think that people of this country would have wizened up a bit and be more mature about matters at stake. But you know it's not really there yet when Parliment holds a meeting to discuss a Chinese youth who raps about stuff that's real and happening in society, albeit using the wrong background song when they could have used the time to come out with solutions with REAL problems like getting Mat Rempits off the road and the increasing crime rate in Melaka.

My sis was in Putrajaya for the fireworks competition last week and she was awed by the big government buildings at the administrative island(all the government buildings are on a island).
For a moment there she was quite proud but then later thought "did Malaysians design the buildings?" Achievements are not about giant buildings and skyscrapers and weird multimillion dollar roundabouts. All that just induces enlarged e-peens.

Reality is, it's hard being a minority in this country. Can't ignore the fact that racism is rampant on all levels of society. We hear stories of people getting beat up because of their race or how there are no non-bumiputras holding positions in government and all that.
It's hard to be non-bumiputra here.
It's hard to be a non-Muslim here.

I'm not out to bash or to put Malaysia down or anything like that. These are what people talk about out in the streets and everyone knows it although some of it ends up being untrue. Count your blessings and know that there are far worse fates. Malaysia without it's problem is a damn nice place to live in. It's beautiful, it's peaceful, it's safe and the people are most a nice bunch. We have freedom, though restricted in certain aspects, and we ought to be thankful for that.

So yea I'm kinda proud. One of the many good things coming out from this multiracial community is the rich food and culture. I love it here and Ican't imagine living anywhere else. 50 years is short and the country is still young, still much to learn. So count your blessings and say a prayer for our dear country and it's leaders.

Happy 50th Malaysia.

(sensitive stuff i speak of here. the good thing about small readership is I get to post this without all the over-sensitive hoes raining down crap on me. :D)
