Outdatedness

Wednesday, December 12, 2007

This post will be unbelievingly outdated. Still posting for filler content. Hah.
Went for 2 birthday parties last 2 weeks.

1. Mark Choo's farewell/bday

We got him a freakishly good Tickle Him EmoElmo

Food was gone before I got there, ended up with KFC. No worries I love Hot & Spicy anyway.

Too bad we didn't have the chance to know each other moar.

2. Alan's 21st

Alan's the chocolaty middle guy

Good macaroni and cheese by his mom. Rendang and all that too. Happy being an adult dude!

Happy belated both of you. On this blog anyway.

On other stuff......

ACT practice is intense, good thing I'll be working in the background

The biggest props project EVAR...find out next week

Anyway, Stef and Vijay asked me over to teach them my mom's secret Sheppard's Pie

Some miscalculation means we had to bake the pie twice, each rotation.

Final product, only mistake I made was not enough MEAT!!

Still...happy faces I see...

Yes this post is very rushed...because I'm suppose to get to the cinema now....

Off to the movies me goes

Melaka Camp 2007

Saturday, November 24, 2007

Late post! About camp! Last holiday!

Still loved last IF t-shirt the best

Last holiday I attended the my seconded Melaka camp. Another sun, beach and sea camp, my fav.

For this camp, no dorms, no air-cond, no canteen, no hall even. We slept in tents and had meetings under a canopy. Ah~The great outdoors.

Having arrived at campsite in the afternoon, we spent the rest of the day lazying and lepaking.

Youth!

The guys dug a 4-feet hole...for fun...we thought of dunking someone in but there wasn't time

For the next 2 days, we had sessions and meditated on the Bible and what verses meant.

the morning jog where everyone walked

Lounging at the "hall" after lunch. This was where my mouth worked faster than my brain and...let's not talk about it...

lazy evenings

We had night hunts

treasure hunt at night

Debbie does yoga every morning

clues searching

The committee did a great job but most of us were spent and ended up just sitting somewhere....

they call my camera flashbang

guys pillow talking..in a tent...sweaty...mm hmm

the last of the sessions

the group pic

Glad I signed up for the camp...learned a couple of stuff, got closer to a couple of people. All good. This camp was one of the most lepak I've been to. Had lot's of spare time..This is my kinda camp haha. Best way to start the holidays.

P.S

The pink quiksilvers I got from my sis was STOLEDZ last night at Mark's farewell...T_T RIP Quiks...I'll miss you..

I'm Modeling

Saturday, November 17, 2007

I've been a fan of robots or mecha anime since I was young. I think I was influenced by Macross or Robotech when I was young and so Macross(not Robotech) remains my favorite. I always wanted my own model and about two weeks ago I was given my own at last. A 1/144 HG Chaos Gundam from Gundam Seed series.
Eddy, my classmate is an avid collector and possesses the tools to make a good model. To keep it simple I'll just show you some pics.

Eddy placed his collection in front of me to inspire me....
The little bits on the ground are the stuff I'm working on.

Chaos wears a Spartan helm!!

Basically the parts come in pieces like..

...this
We need to pry them out, cement them together, put in the joints, sand-paper and then...

...spray

Parts with the first undercoat, another layer of the actual colour needs to be sprayed

Even the paints have a special brand

Vijay busy snipping the parts and reading the manual

Despite of all that, I'm only 70% done with it, most probably be completing it the next two weeks. Here's a showcase of...

Eddy's 1/100 NG Astray Red Frame..note the huge ass katana

And his 1/100 NG Gold Frame Amatu Custom that he completed yesterday...shiny

Gundam 00, this year's Gundam series is currently airing. Also modeling means modeling Gundam models, I'm in no way strutting any catwalk :D For more into the intricate world of Gundam modeling, see this Danny Choo post.

Vertigo

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Taken from Merriam-Webster's Medical Dictionary

ver·ti·go
Pronunciation: 'v&rt-i-"gO
Function: noun
Inflected Form: plural -goes or -gos
1 : a disordered state which is associated with various disorders (as of the inner ear) and in which the individual or the individual's surroundings seem to whirl dizzily —see OBJECTIVE VERTIGO, SUBJECTIVE VERTIGO; —compare DIZZINESS
2 : disordered vertiginous movement as a symptom of disease in lower animals; also : a disease (as gid) causing this

For the first time in my life I was affected by vertigo. This is a feeling I hope I never suffer from the rest of my life. With 6 hours of sleep, I went to the gym and then the pool. When I was out of the pool the world tilted its axis and I was spinning around and puking all over the place. Fun huh?
Symptoms include

  • Sweating
  • Erratic eye movement
  • Blur visions
  • Nausea and vomitting
Uh-huh all check. Whatever I ate from thereon ended up on the sidewalks. That's 2 days ago. Now I still feel slight dizziness. Mild vertigo the doctor tells me. Gotta imagine what severe cases are like...ughh.

Thanks for the HG Chaos guys. I'm now 30% into completion and when I do I'll post it here. For those of you who don't know what that is...here's a pic

Why only 30%? It's not as easy to make as you think if you wanna do it the right and professional way. I'll do a post about it next time.

A Christmas Thingy

Saturday, November 10, 2007

A Christmas Thingy (AcT) will be this year's CF musical and it replaces NoC if any of you still remember. I've been given 2 roles this time around; Assistant Props Director or something like that and I'll be acting as a bartender. A dancing bartender D: But no dialog. Should work out fine I guess. Being the bartender means I'll be involved in a STOMP scene as well. I got offered a SINGING role but I declined. I can't sing for nuts. Much more comfortable being in the background. The stage need filler characters, no?

Bottles filled with rice means Cha Cha rythm

Vijay and Stef, grand overlords of the STOMP scene

doing some choreography work

I know a lot people actually look forward to our yearly musical plays. These things take a lot of effort and practice. And I've got carpentry work for the props as well.
It's slated tentatively for the 19th of December. So come see it. Hopefully we'll be as good as the years before. For more posts on AcT go to Andrew's because he's the guitarist for the play.

Top 5 Wants of 2007. Sessy.

Saturday, October 20, 2007

I'm back from camp burnt and bruised. Even got an ant-bite on my left eyelid which is now swollen, make me look like I just got sucker-punched. Hopefully it'll go away by this weekend.
Two more months till our favourite time of the year; starts with a C and ends with an S. Probably the best time of the year when the temperature falls and daylight gets shorter. I compiled a list "Wants" from this whole year as the coming season is a season of giving. Of course I'm not expecting any of you to get me these, they're just what I would get if I had so much money I could wipe my ass with RM50 bills. Here it is:

1. Nokia N81

After that incident which my 6131 was taken away from me, I was left with using Kiwen's old SE phone, which is laggy but weirdly has bluetooth. So anyway time to hunt for a new phone. Looking throught GSMArena.com, I found this little thinga majigga. This nifty phone had 2mp camera, 2.4in 16mil colour screen, 8gigs of internal storage, is wifi-enabled, and best of all plays like an N-Gage. That's right, it supports N-Gage games and the bar on the top of the phone is actually a gaming button. The silver ring around the controls is touch sensitive and you can scroll through pictures simply by brushing your fingers along the ring. It isn't released yet in Malaysia but when it does, it'll probably cost above RM2xxx. Sure the iPhone looks really good with it's flashy interface and all, but I'm not too keen to jump on the Apple bandwagon just yet.

Read more about it at GSMArena. Sessy phone.

2. Creative Zen

As you know from my previous post, my Zen Micro is dying as we know it. What better player to replace it than this new player from Creative. The Zen is a flash-based player with 4gb, 8gb and 16gb variants. It also supports SDHC memory cards, expending the memory to over 32gb. It supports almost all the audio formats known to man, but how many of us actually have songs encoded in AAC, Audible or even WAV? We all know we should just stick to mp3 lossless. The Zen plays videos as well but only in avi and wmv format. It also displays multiple format pictures on its glorious 2.5" 16mil colour TFT screen (notice my fetish for big 16mil colour screens?) The interface looks good and sound quality has always been above average for Creative players. Once again, people would probably compare this to iPod Touch. Yep iPod touch is the iPhone without the phone thus boasts revolutionary interface and Wifi. The Zen surely loses out on these fronts but sound quality has always been on Creative's side and that's what is important to me most in a DAP.

Lengthy review here. Sessy player.

3. Chuck Taylor Converse All-Star Double Upper Low

Funky name for a pair of shoes but seriously, they look really good. On me. Okay so I've never tried them on but I can imagine how perfectly they would fit on me. These totally fit a pair of jeans or dark slacks or even three-quarters. Nothing much to say about these. Too bad Mahkota Parade's store closed down before I was into Converse and I don't think outlets in KL sell models like these. Tell me if you spot them kay.

Visit Converse for more shoes. Sessy shoes.

4. Nintendo Wii

When I saw the ingame screenies from the Sony PlayStation 3 Sony 2 years ago, I thought it would totally own all other consoles on it's release. It seems that didn't come true as it's trailing in sales behind both Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. So at no.4 of my wanted list is Nintendo Wii. This cool little gadget boasts a motion sensitive controller and innovative ways to play games. People who own this are swinging their arms all over the place looking at the screen. If you don't know how good this console is you must have been living under a stone. It falls short of super advance graphics but has innovative games and is very much cheaper than the other consoles. At the moment, Nintendo > Microsoft > Sony. I would consider getting the Wii if only them China Pirate Bengs would pirate games for it.

Just google Wii and click on any link for more info. Sessy console.

5. Sony HDR-SR8E HandyCam

At no.5 is a Sony HandyCam. This baby records at 1080pi HD format and has 4.3 megapixel recording. Recording moving images is different from still images and 4.3 mp is very big for moving images. It has 60gb internal memory for 38hours of recording. The LCD screen is touchscreen and has SteadyShot to counter shaky hands. Got some other features but these are what I care about most. The question why would I want a camcorder? I shoot movies from time to time with some friends and equipment is really a headache when we wanna start shooting. Having this baby around will make things so much easier.

Head on over to Sony for all the jizz. Sessy camcorder.

That's all the sessyness I have for this post. These are all really cool stuff and like I said, I'd get them if I had the money to wipe my ass with. Reality is so harsh. Did I mention my b'day was around the corner?HUhuahuahua

Autumn Vacation

Thursday, October 11, 2007

Finally done with finals. Summary? Three good papers, one really bad one. We studied the tutorials and also the past-year papers but the lecturer chose to center on a puny part of the notes. GG. I smell supp. maybe D: Oh well might as well make the most of my 3 week vacation.
Was at Ah Kit's birthday yesterday. Going to Eddie's tomorrow. So many. Mine coming up *koff*

Gonna take this opportunity to wish both Ah Kit and Eddie, Happy 21st! Wishing you wisdom befitting your age~

Oh and this blog celebrates 1000 clicks. Yay. Another milestone achieved. This blog is 4+10 months old and has 50 posts. This makes an average of 300 visitors a month and 20 visitors per post. Like you'd care. Ahaks. Sorry la exam mode still hasn't rub off.

Vacation this time will begin with Melaka camp @ Kuantan. Beach-side camping it is. Time to practice what scouting has thought me! Uh huh. Then off to Sunway Lagoon with a bunch of nubs that can't swim (including me). It then ends with a week of training for Christmas Act, which I will elaborate next time, at the CF center. Another fulfilling holiday.

So Selamat Hari Raya and drive safe if you're on the road. Play safely is you're not. I leave you now with a video I made for my Robotics assignment. It features a three-degree-freedom robotic arm, a nekkid azian hunk, a sleeping uncle, and tons of weird angles. Enjoy and enjoy.

Weekends and jumpings

Wednesday, October 03, 2007

Last weekend was a short break from the cram that is the study week. Sis came back from Hong Kong with goodies. Mid Autumn festival just passed but fret not, those calorie packed parcels are still out there if you look at the right places. Sis brought home a bunch of them from the land of Dim Sum and Wantan Mee.

mooncake with nuts and meat

mini mooncake

some mooncake-ish kuih with century egg...yea those black eggs you get with your porridge

Then there's this huge mooncake that cost her RM50 for a piece. Contains 9 salted yolks. 9!

The granddaddy of mooncakes..somewhere on it says 9 yolks

yolk in every slice

and all that other mooncakes

egg rolls

and egg tards.

There's this donut mania around the local blogosphere. Why get all obsessed with candy-coated fried dough that makes you fat when you can have bread-coated...

...fried biscuits that makes you fat? uh no

...fried chicken that makes you fat. Booyah!

Popped a few into the oven and yeh! baby! Prefer them over donuts any day. Add...

...mom's milky mashed taters and you got a smiling fat ass - me!

Of course food wasn't all she packed home.

Quiksilvers~! I got the blue pink ones...ghey~

Didn't get to study much last weekend cause I had to do a video recording of our robotic arm for our assignment. ugghh~ Ah Kiong better have some good marks for me...maybe I'll post the video here once I'm done :D One more week to celebrations and festivities !

then let's go jumping!
