It's Crunch Time Again

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

It's week 14 of our semester which usually means blood, sweat, tears, dark eye circles and weight loss all cramped into 2-3 weeks. Nice. This is my schedule.

Starts at the end of the the first week of exams meaning I still have approximately two more weeks to study. That still isn't very comforting. Anyway I did notice something about the exam slip. They added extra reminder at the bottom.

Read d) with caps. Very guilt inducing indeed.

Anyway I started a countdown to the time I can finally breathe easiER, hopefully. The countdown counts to the 10th of October, 11.10pm. 11.10 because the lecturers need to count the papers bla bla bla and they normally release you 10 minutes later. Fair enough.

I know..very tacky and dodgy this thing. What to do...free things ma.
Pray for my soul to stay sane during this time. Amen.

Merdeka?

Saturday, September 01, 2007

Malaysia celebrates it's 50th birthday this weekend. Celebrations are everywhere and lot's of hu-ha in the newspapers about. Am I suppose to be super proud about this?

For all the achievements Malaysia raked up over the years, you would think that people of this country would have wizened up a bit and be more mature about matters at stake. But you know it's not really there yet when Parliment holds a meeting to discuss a Chinese youth who raps about stuff that's real and happening in society, albeit using the wrong background song when they could have used the time to come out with solutions with REAL problems like getting Mat Rempits off the road and the increasing crime rate in Melaka.

My sis was in Putrajaya for the fireworks competition last week and she was awed by the big government buildings at the administrative island(all the government buildings are on a island).
For a moment there she was quite proud but then later thought "did Malaysians design the buildings?" Achievements are not about giant buildings and skyscrapers and weird multimillion dollar roundabouts. All that just induces enlarged e-peens.

Reality is, it's hard being a minority in this country. Can't ignore the fact that racism is rampant on all levels of society. We hear stories of people getting beat up because of their race or how there are no non-bumiputras holding positions in government and all that.
It's hard to be non-bumiputra here.
It's hard to be a non-Muslim here.

I'm not out to bash or to put Malaysia down or anything like that. These are what people talk about out in the streets and everyone knows it although some of it ends up being untrue. Count your blessings and know that there are far worse fates. Malaysia without it's problem is a damn nice place to live in. It's beautiful, it's peaceful, it's safe and the people are most a nice bunch. We have freedom, though restricted in certain aspects, and we ought to be thankful for that.

So yea I'm kinda proud. One of the many good things coming out from this multiracial community is the rich food and culture. I love it here and Ican't imagine living anywhere else. 50 years is short and the country is still young, still much to learn. So count your blessings and say a prayer for our dear country and it's leaders.

Happy 50th Malaysia.

(sensitive stuff i speak of here. the good thing about small readership is I get to post this without all the over-sensitive hoes raining down crap on me. :D)

Farewell, old friend

Sunday, July 15, 2007

I returned from church, contemplating what to post cause i felt i should constantly update my blog. A few ideas came to my mind and I even made notes on my phone. I got home at 10.30pm sat down for tv. I got a message from Kiwen at 11.

"Just to inform you, Tzong Huat our head prefect has just passed away due to his back problem."

My heart felt heavy, it pounded hard, resonating all the way to my head. I tried to make meaning of this ill news. Back problems? I had just lost a friend, after losing two the year before. This feeling is all too familiar and I honestly hate it. In a way I was closer to Tzong Huat than either Teck Chuen or Edmond. I grew up with him, known him since primary, attended the same tuition, played badminton with him on alternate evenings. We were close all the way to secondary, only drifting apart during the later secondary years. But I always see him at school, with him being head prefect I was always getting spot-checked by him but he usually lets me free for the pettier offences.

Sigh.

As this is, I'm going to attend my third funeral, the third one for a friend. Seriously I'm getting sick and tired of funerals. We are only 21. I only want to hear about the next one in 50 years time.

And we never got to catch up about old times. Even when he was alive, chatting with him wasn't even in my mind. Now you wished you had done something with him before...
Haha the irony and melancholy of humans. So say a little prayer, a prayer for your friends, past and present. Say a prayer for my friend, whom I never got to befriend again.

Rest well old, friend. Enjoy heaven.

Chris Benoit

Wednesday, June 27, 2007

sh|ru was at Infrasha Maju, having dinner after the usual CF meeting. While there he found out that WWE wrestler, the rabid wolverine, Chris Benoit was found dead at home along with his wife and . It appears he murdered his wife and child and then commited suicide. And on the projection was a tribute to him. Say a little prayer for him and his family tonight. More info of him at Wikipedia
